What we do on the Snorkel & Sandbar Charters?

Depending on which tour you choose and time allotting. We always try to snorkel the Alligator Reef Lighthouse, BUT if sea conditions does not permit, we will choose another reef like Cheeca Rocks, Hen & Chickens or Florida Bay. Reef Snorkeling Requires some Snorkeling Experience. You need to be comfortable jumping off boat in 10-15 ft of water and swimming over to reef. There is NO standing or sandbar at Alligator Reef or Cheeca Rocks.

If you are a Beginner you are advised to book the Private Tour Only, we need to spend the time teaching and practicing snorkeling with you in calm or shallow waters. Reef snorkeling is in the deeper waters and is NOT good for small children (unless they're very experienced in open waters).

2 hr Private Tour with small kids have option to do the Sandbar only, and skip reef snorkeling. It's a good place for the kids to put on a mask and practice snorkeling while they can still stand in sand. Or if the very small children are just wanting to splash around in the water.

On Windy days, Snorkeling Florida Bay maybe only option or Eco Tour Only (please stay in contact via phone/text). Florida Bay snorkeling is always recommend for small children or beginner snorkelers.

On the 4 hour Sandbar tour we will spend the time boating to sandbar and playing on water toys at the sandbar, depending on tide sandbar can be 1 to 3 ft deep. If weather permitting we maybe able to snorkel Cheeca Rocks Sanctuary prior to going to sandbar or take an eco tour through Florida Bay, if conditions don't permit snorkeling, all time will be spent at Sandbar. On windy days, White Marlin Beach maybe a better option then the Sandbar, it's a wonderful place to play in shallow crystal clear water(no snorkel).

3 hr tour, we either split time up between snorkeling and sandbar, or if weather is too rough to snorkel it's just a Sandbar Tour, with possibility of cruising the Florida Bay. If sea conditions are good, skip the sandbar and we can snorkel 2 or 3 locations.

Please keep in mind, snorkeling is a VERY PHYSICAL ACTIVITY and you must be able to swim to get in the water. Also you must be able to climb boat ladder. Children MUST be accompanied by a legal guardian in and out of the water.

8 WAYS TO SAFER SNORKELING - 1. If you can’t swim, don’t snorkel. 2. Always snorkel with a buddy. 3. If in doubt about your cardiovascular health, don’t go out. 4. Choose snorkel devices thoughtfully. 5. It may be prudent to wait until several days after arrival by air to attempt a snorkel venture. 6. Shortness of breath can be a sign of danger. 7. Stay calm, stand up, remove snorkel, get out of water immediately. 8. Beware of drifting away.

The Captain will give his suggestions & itinerary for your group. CAPTAINS CHOOSE ON SNORKEL LOCATIONS, AND WILL BE DECIDED ON DAY OF TRIP.

What is the Islamorada Famous Sandbar?

If you are looking to chill or catch some rays and enjoy the beach then a trip to the Islamorada Sandbar is the place to go!! The Famous Islamorada Sandbar is located just offshore on the Atlantic Ocean side. It’s a popular spot for people to visit, you will see boats gather on the water. Because the water is shallow on the sandbar, you lounge on floats, play frisbee or football or just chill on the boat. The sandbar is a great spot for all ages, and is a must see in Islamorada .
